If you’re vegan or considering a shift to veganism, you likely know how challenging it is to find a trustworthy pair of vegan boots. While vegan food options are becoming more popular, many of your favorite clothing brands still fall short when it comes to offering reliable vegan boot choices.

This challenge can make it difficult to fully embrace a cruelty-free lifestyle, but it’s definitely not impossible. Fortunately, awareness of the benefits of veganism is on the rise, leading to an increase in fantastic vegan boot brands available today.

You’re in luck, as we’ve compiled a list of some of the best vegan boot options out there. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or simply in need of a dependable pair of vegan winter boots, you’re sure to find something you’ll adore.

So go ahead and explore this guide to discover your new favorite pair of stylish kicks that are good for you and the planet!

What Makes These Boots Vegan?

When shopping for shoes, it’s essential to consider not just the materials used, but also the entire manufacturing process.

For instance, just because a shoe doesn’t contain leather doesn’t guarantee that it hasn’t been tested on animals or that animal-based glue wasn’t used during production.

This is why it’s crucial to research before making a purchase, even if a brand initially appears to be vegan-friendly.

A heartfelt thank you to Ahinsa for providing me with two pairs of boots to review.

Top Vegan Boot Brands

The following list includes vegan boots that are produced without any animal products whatsoever. This means no fur, no leather, and no animal-based adhesives.

Moreover, many of these brands are committed to sustainability and actively work to minimize their environmental impact.

The best part? You can feel good about investing in comfortable vegan boots while supporting companies that prioritize sustainable practices.

Will’s Vegan Shoes

Vegan boots from Will's Vegan Shoes

I currently own three pairs of boots from Will’s Vegan Shoes, making this brand one of my top choices for vegan footwear.

In fact, my very first vegan boots were from Will’s. Fed up with low-quality synthetic leather winter boots that fell apart within months, I purchased a pair of Will’s Chelsea boots. Years later, they are still in excellent condition.

While Will’s is a British brand, their shoes are available internationally. They are 100% vegan and PETA-approved.

This company is genuinely committed to sustainability. Their shoes are crafted from eco-certified materials, and the footbeds are made from recycled rubber. Additionally, all their packaging is carbon-neutral and plastic-free.

Will’s offers a broad selection of vegan boots for both men and women, including options like vegan Chelsea boots, dock boots, knee-high boots, ankle booties, hiking boots, cowboy boots, biker boots, sneaker boots, and more.

Price-wise, their vegan boots range from $84 to $200.

Matt & Nat

Similar to Collections & Co, this vegan boot company offers an extensive selection of styles.

Based in Montreal, they are now internationally recognized, with boutiques all over the globe.

Matt & Nat is dedicated to sustainable business practices, ensuring that all their shoe linings are made from recycled plastic bottles, claiming to save 9 million bottles annually. They also maintain transparency regarding their factory conditions, which is reassuring to know — a true cruelty-free brand should treat their employees fairly and avoid exploitative practices.

As mentioned, they provide a vast range of styles, including vegan winter boots, vegan rain boots, and even vegan high-heeled boots. They also have a more limited selection of styles for men.

The price range is surprisingly affordable compared to previous brands, with some vegan boots available for under $100, starting as low as $78. This makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a quality pair of boots without overspending.

Ahinsa Barefoot Shoes – Jaya and Winter Ankle Boots

When considering barefoot shoes, vegan boots might not be the first thing that comes to mind. I used to envision toe shoes worn by hippies in the forest. However, meeting the owners of Ahinsa shoes completely transformed my perspective!

Ahinsa generously provided me with three pairs of shoes for review, two of which are vegan boots: the Jaya Vegan Boots (shown above) and the Winter Ankle Boots (shown below). For the first time, I’m actually looking forward to winter just to try out the latter in chilly Prague.

Ahinsa Vegan Winter Boots
Ahinsa Vegan Winter Boots

The Winter Ankle Boots feature a soft, furry lining that keeps your feet warm and cozy in extremely cold climates, all without using any animal-derived materials. Everything produced by Ahinsa is vegan!

The Jaya boots can be worn as pure barefoot shoes or with a comfort insert made by Ahinsa. I opted for the comfort insert, and these boots, which I’ve worn almost every day since receiving them, have significantly changed my relationship with my feet — and I know that may sound odd!

Firstly, I can actually feel the ground beneath my feet as I walk, which makes me more conscious of my movements. The footwear position is quite different from what I experience with standard shoes, leading my foot to strike softer and towards the front, which means no more foot pain or discomfort by the end of the day.

Additionally, I’ve noticed a considerable increase in toe space when comparing them to “regular” shoes. Barefoot shoes allow for natural toe spreading, which I was completely unaware would be such a game-changer.

The Jaya Vegan Boots from Ahinsa are undeniably the most comfortable I’ve ever worn, to the point where I don’t feel the need to take them off at the day’s end. They truly feel more like a protective second skin rather than typical footwear. Can you see how much I adore these vegan boots?

In terms of warmth, I confidently expect the Jaya boots to keep me cozy during the winter months. If you live in a particularly frigid area or spend considerable time outdoors, you might also want to check out the Winter Ankle Boots. Although I haven’t worn them outdoors yet due to milder temperatures, I can already tell they will be extremely warm!

Ahinsa’s boots typically range in price from $156 to $167 USD.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking to invest in a fantastic pair of vegan boots that truly care for your feet!

Collection & Co

This vegan boot brand operates under the parent company Immaculate Vegan. Collection & Co is a reputable, fashionable vegan shoe brand that offers high-quality vegan products (including clothing, shoes, and accessories) while respecting the environment.

Headquartered in London, this company primarily focuses on women’s boots while offering a variety of styles. Unlike Astral Designs, this brand emphasizes the fashion aspect of vegan boots. Some of their popular designs include a faux-suede Chelsea boot and an upcycled vegan leather knee-high boot.

One of the standout features of their upcycling process helps this brand make it onto this list, alongside the fact that their boots look fabulous! Their vegan boots are crafted in a small factory in Greece from pineapple tree leaves, recycled plastics, and leftover materials from previous collections. Thus, even as seasons change, their commitment to waste reduction remains steadfast.

In terms of price, these boots are reasonably priced considering they are a high-end fashion choice, typically ranging around 100 – 120 British Pounds (approximately $160 US dollars). With their stylish designs, core values, and responsible manufacturing processes, this vegan boot brand is well worth a splurge every now and then.

Matisse’s Vegan Boots

Matisse Footwear is a fantastic vegan boot brand focused on women’s fashion. Based in Los Angeles, they are dedicated to creating unique vegan boot styles with a keen eye for quality craftsmanship.

While not everything in their inventory is vegan, they utilize sustainable practices and strive to upcycle as much as possible. Per their website, their non-vegan leather is entirely recycled, which demonstrates their commitment to environmentally conscious choices.

The Coconuts collection is vast, featuring a wide array of styles and sizes ranging from sandals to heavy-duty vegan winter boots. If you’re looking to acquire various pairs of boots to complement any outfit, this brand is likely to meet your needs.

Matisse’s Coconuts collection includes options such as vegan ankle boots, vegan combat boots, vegan western boots, and much more!

Prices vary greatly, ranging from $75 to $260, although the most common price point hovers around $100. Given their dedication to high-quality craftsmanship, these prices are pretty reasonable for a solid pair of vegan boots.

Humans Are Vain

Operating under the tagline “Swedish Conscious Fashion,” Humans Are Vain is an incredible unisex brand with contemporary designs. They focus on sustainable materials, making them a noteworthy PETA-approved label.

Utilizing pineapple leaves and recycled plastic from the ocean, their primary materials aim to create sustainable fashion styles that are also easy to recycle.

The brand was founded by Chris Margetts, who spent two decades in the fashion industry and grew dissatisfied with fast-fashion practices. Hence, he created his brand — something we can all appreciate!

All their vegan boots are priced at around €120, aligning with the average cost for plant-based footwear.

Mireia Playà

Mireia Playa is a cruelty-free vegan footwear brand known for its striking designs that perfectly complement any woman’s shoe collection. Their styles are unique, crafted from sustainable materials, which is essential for any brand!

They are committed to a cruelty-free and eco-friendly business model. All their materials are either plant-based or recycled, and they avoid all plastic in their packaging.

Their expansive collection boasts an array of distinctive vegan boots — flats, low heels, platforms — whatever your heart desires, they have it! Whether you’re after a modern platform boot or a purple faux-suede pair, Mireia Playà has something for you.

Boot prices typically average around €150, but you can often find great deals and snag some under €100 during their year-round sales.

While NOAH’s vegan boots are on the higher end, averaging around €200, investing in a timeless Italian boot is undoubtedly rewarding.

They are exceptionally transparent regarding the sourcing and production process of each material used to craft their luxurious vegan boots. For instance, their shoe linings are composed of barley byproducts, an excellent bio-alternative to traditional plastic material.

With a select collection of stylish apple leather boots, they represent the pinnacle of trend-setting elegance. That said, being a high-fashion brand does come with a price, averaging around $425. However, you can feel assured knowing where each penny of your investment goes!

Taylor + Thomas

Taylor + Thomas is a unique vegan fashion brand that aims to make a significant impact in a traditionally male-centric industry. This girl-powered company produces sustainable and thoughtful designs that are essential in any ethical wardrobe.
