8. Discover the Vibrant Ouseburn
Ouseburn is my favorite neighborhood in Newcastle.
This inviting area is brimming with independent venues; it’s trendy and lively, yet refreshingly unpretentious.
Picture any hipster district you know, and you’ll envision Ouseburn—though it’s friendlier and much more compact than many other hipster locales around the world*.
*Okay, I admit I am a little biased. My apologies.
Some highlights include cozy pubs and cafes, a family-friendly farm-themed petting zoo, and the fantastic kid-friendly museum, Seven Stories (which we’ll discuss in greater detail in the next section).
While some attractions in Ouseburn are outdoors, many are indoors. So even if it’s pouring rain in Newcastle, you can still enjoy a variety of eateries, entertainment venues, and other indoor spots in the neighborhood.
