Hidden Passageway from Amalfi to Atrani | Margie in Italy

During my recent stay in Amalfi, I made it a priority to visit Atrani. I had heard about a secret pedestrian tunnel that conveniently connects Amalfi to Atrani. Richard and I decided to navigate this route, which was simple thanks to the directions I found. From the Amalfi bus stop, we walked along the shore until we spotted the tunnel entrance on the left. It is not visible from the main road; near Cafè Dejavu, we entered the tunnel, which is always open to pedestrians. Rest assured, it’s the safest path between the two towns.

One of the most charming aspects of Atrani is its soft, sandy beach, which is a rarity on this coast, typically known for its gray pebbled shores. Come summertime, colorful blue-and-white umbrellas dot the beach, but in April, the beaches remain tranquil. The highly recommended beachside restaurant, Le Arcate, features a spacious terrace and serves traditional seafood dishes for lunch and dinner throughout the year. We headed over there for an alfresco meal with a view.
