Facebook Faces Another Setback

Date:

We want to update everyone who has been kind enough to follow us on our second attempt on Facebook.

Over a month ago, on June 14th, 2023, we lost access to our Facebook account, and many of our posts were flagged and removed as “infringing content.”

As of today, July 25th, 2023, we received an email stating that both our personal Facebook accounts and the “Come Walk With Us” page are at risk of being deleted for “posting infringing content” and “misleading content.” Unfortunately, no additional details were provided, and our attempts to seek clarification have gone unanswered. We have only shared links to our hiking blog and photographs taken on Canada’s Great Trail, so we are left puzzled as to who might be complaining about our images or commentary.

Additionally, we’ve been informed that all images and references to organizations are considered the sole property of those organizations and cannot be used by anyone else—this includes photographs we have taken ourselves.

Since this is the second time our hiking account has faced such issues, we’ve decided that Facebook is no longer a suitable platform to share our adventures as we continue to explore Canada. Creating regular content requires significant effort, and after posting over 850 blog entries and thousands of pictures, we believe it’s not worth re-posting everything a third time.

For now, we will continue to blog regularly and document our journey from one coast of Canada to the other.

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement.

“The Laughing Heart
your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.”

Onward and forward with optimism, believing that our best days on the trail are still ahead of us!
