Andrea Bocelli Concert at the Teatro del Silenzio in Tuscany. Here, you’ll find all the essential information needed to plan your visit to this beautiful venue and enjoy an unforgettable performance by the renowned Italian tenor.
The 19th Edition of 2024 promises to be sensational and extraordinary. For the very first time, there will be three performances to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the illustrious career of Andrea Bocelli, the world’s most celebrated tenor. The first concert is set for Monday, July 15, followed by another on Wednesday, July 17, and concluding on Friday, July 19.
“This is my land—a land that, like me, loves silence. If I break this silence with my voice, it is to honor these places and my people. The music resonates with the earth, reaching far and wide. It carries a message of love. A land that might seem remote yet brims with beauty and meaning.” With these heartfelt words, Maestro Andrea Bocelli describes the village of Lajatico and the Teatro del Silenzio.
The Teatro del Silenzio
Enchanting, surreal, and almost mystical, the Teatro del Silenzio is set amidst the stunning Tuscan countryside, surrounded by golden wheat fields and gently rolling green hills. It’s a tranquil place to reflect and find peace in complete silence.
The Teatro is an open-air theater created in 2006 at the request of Maestro Andrea Bocelli, who hails from this part of Tuscany.
This unique venue remains quiet for most of the year, explaining its name—The Theater of Silence. For 364 days a year, visitors can explore it freely. The location is truly breathtaking. A wall of thick Tuscan travertine encircles an artificial pond adorned with ever-changing art installations, enhancing the theater’s beauty. Once a year, it springs to life with an incredible music event featuring tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Where is the Teatro del Silenzio?
This enchanting site is just outside the village of Lajatico in Valdera, Tuscany, a short drive from the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Etruscan town of Volterra—two must-visit attractions in Tuscany.
If you are based in Pisa, taking a day trip to the beautiful Valdera countryside, including Lajatico, is a fantastic idea. This charming part of Tuscany is less frequented by mass tourism, located just 50 kilometers away—about a 50-minute drive.
Should you wish to make a stop at the theater, consider visiting the nearby picturesque town of Volterra.

Every July, Andrea Bocelli performs at his theater alongside renowned international music stars. Since its establishment in 2006, the Teatro del Silenzio has showcased pop singers, tenors, and close friends of Bocelli, including Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Gianna Nannini, Zubin Mehta, Carla Fracci. This spectacular event draws visitors from across Italy and beyond.
Andrea Bocelli will share the stage with other performers as the event at the Teatro del Silenzio typically features a larger show rather than a solo concert. The lineup of special guests arriving in Tuscany to celebrate Andrea Bocelli’s 30th career anniversary is extensive and continues to grow: Ed Sheeran, Academy Award winners like Russell Crowe and Jon Batiste, Brian May, Italian artists such as Elisa, Zucchero, Tiziano Ferro, and Eros Ramazzotti, along with classics stars like Placido Domingo, Lang Lang, Shania Twain, Sofia Vergara, and David Foster. The new No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner may also be part of the celebration.

How to Get to the Teatro del Silenzio
The most convenient way to reach the Teatro del Silenzio is by car, both on concert days and throughout the year.
Pisa is just a thirty-minute drive, while Florence is about an hour away. From both cities, you’ll want to take the Superstrada FI-PI_LI freeway, exiting at Pontedera or Pontedera/Ponsacco. From there, it’s easy to navigate along the Strada Statale 439 Sarzanese Valdera that cuts through the Pisan countryside.
USEFUL TIPS FOR DRIVING IN ITALY
If you’re flying to Tuscany specifically for the concert, Pisa offers the closest airport, but Florence is also a viable choice.
Public transportation is quite limited in rural areas. The nearest train station is in Pontedera, while the closest bus stop is in Lajatico. From there, you’d have to walk the remaining distance to the Teatro, which is only about 1 km away.
Arriving at the Teatro del Silenzio via Private Transfer for the Andrea Bocelli Concert
Another option for the concert day is to arrange for a private transfer. Many car services provide this option specifically for Bocelli’s concert. Your hotel may also assist you in finding the best solution tailored to your needs.
The local tour operator Arianna and Friends, based in Peccioli (near Lajatico), offers exclusive packages for the Andrea Bocelli Concert. These packages may include premium tickets, on-site assistance on the day of the event, and either private or shared transfers from other locations in Tuscany, such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and San Gimignano.
Parking at the Teatro del Silenzio
On regular days, you can park next to the arena and enjoy a short walk to the center, where you’ll find the lake and large sculptures.
During the concert, however, Lajatico and the surrounding areas will be off-limits to manage the large crowds effectively. Therefore, it’s advisable to arrive early. Passing the waiting time can be enjoyable, perhaps by grabbing a bite to eat or watching the sunset paint the Tuscan hills. The event organizers offer three different parking options for attendees traveling by car.
Parking La Sterza
The largest parking area can be found in La Sterza, only 500 meters (0.3 miles) from the theater entrance, adjacent to a restaurant called Da Pasquino. This parking is free and opens in the morning. Starting from 5 PM, free shuttle services will transport you to the Teatro. The shuttle will also operate for your return after the concert.
Parking Poggio al Lupo
The second, smaller parking option is Poggio al Lupo, situated just 300 meters (0.19 miles) from the entrance. It opens at 5 PM and incurs a fee of €2. This area features restrooms and food trucks. To reach this parking lot, take the “San Giovanni to Lajatico” road from the main SS 439 road, following the signs to the parking facility.
Reserved Parking for Executive Tickets
Those who purchased Executive tickets have access to designated parking located at the end of Strada della Mandriola, right next to the Teatro entrance. Access is granted only upon presentation of the Executive ticket.
Reserved Parking for Individuals with Disabilities
Parking is also available for individuals with disabilities, located closest to the stage. This parking is at the end of Strada della Mandriola. To use this facility, show your ticket and the reservation email for the exclusive area designated for individuals with disabilities. Access to this parking is allowed starting at 5 PM, and special shuttles will transport individuals to the theater.
Where to Stay Near the Teatro del Silenzio
Although many visitors come to Lajatico specifically for Andrea Bocelli’s concert, we recommend spending a few days in Valdera. This charming part of Tuscany is filled with quaint villages and culinary experiences worth savoring. Here’s a brief guide on what you can do here.
A SMALL GUIDE TO VALDERA
Another reason to consider staying in Valdera is the risk of concert cancellation due to adverse weather. In such cases, refunds aren’t provided, and reschedules typically occur the following day. To ensure you don’t lose your chance to hear the unparalleled voice of Bocelli, it might be wise to reserve a couple of nights in the area.
We highly recommend Agriturismo Casale Le Torri, located approximately 35 minutes from the theater. This beautifully restored farmhouse, surrounded by olive trees and cypress groves, offers an oasis of tranquility. It’s easily accessible by car, and the welcoming staff goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Additionally, guests can enjoy a delightful pool, perfect for relaxation before the concert.
