Melea, a graduate of Auburn University in 1995, has over a decade of experience as a social media manager in the tourism sector with the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association (AMLA). In her role at AMLA, Melea is tasked with developing content for Visit North Alabama’s social media channels, composing blog posts for the official website, organizing the North Alabama Ambassador Program, and delivering presentations at various events and meetings focused on social media strategies. Additionally, she hosts the podcast “Unexpected Adventures in North Alabama,” produced by Relic Agency, which won a Silver Muse Award in the Audio/Podcast category in 2022. In recognition of her efforts with the podcast, Melea was awarded the Tourism Promoter of the Year Award by the Alabama Restaurant & Hospitality Association in October 2023.

Before joining AMLA, Melea earned her Master’s degree in Secondary Education at the University of North Alabama (UNA). She taught middle school English for three years and also coached middle school cheerleaders. Following that, she spent over eight years teaching English at Calhoun Community College. Melea’s career began in public relations, working with an advertising agency in Atlanta, a minor league baseball team in Columbus, Georgia, and in the development office at Auburn University. Recently, she co-founded her own social media marketing agency, M and M Social, with a friend. Melea enjoys writing, traveling, walking in the park—having walked over 600 miles in 2020—attending Auburn games, and reading books about World War II.
