Garden of Il Luipino Restaurant near Sheradon Honolulu
Day 2: Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii – June 14, 2015
After a restful night’s sleep, we were excited to start our beach holiday. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the hotel, taking in the beautiful surroundings of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Our day was filled with exploring the Waikiki Beach area.
We visited the Garden of Il Luipino Restaurant located near the Sheraton, as well as various hotel shops. We strolled along the beach, admiring the Surfer and Dolphin statue along the waterfront.
It happened to be the last day of the 15th Pan Pacific Festival. From a flyer we received, we discovered that many locations offered entertainment throughout the day. We decided to enjoy some festivities in the nearby shopping centers as part of the Pan Pacific Festival. There were captivating performances, including Hula dancing and a vibrant drumming group that resonated throughout one of the malls.
We also took the Trolley to Ala Moana Center, the largest shopping mall in Hawaii and the fourteenth largest in the United States. With over 300 stores, Ala Moana Center is a true paradise for shoppers.

After exploring the mall for a couple of hours, we returned to Waikiki.
Our next stop was the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, located in the heart of revitalized Waikiki. This is one of Oahu’s premier shopping destinations, featuring a variety of shopping and dining options among its 110 stores and restaurants. The center underwent a significant renovation in 2007, enhancing views of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and adding well-known brands such as Apple, Kate Spade, Gucci, and Hermes.
Back in Waikiki, we wanted to experience more of the Pan Pacific Festival entertainment, where we noticed a strong Japanese influence, including delightful performances.
We had a wonderfully varied day exploring Honolulu.
In the late afternoon, we enjoyed a large parade showcasing local cultural groups and schools, which ran along the esplanade for about two hours.
As sunset approached, we relaxed on the beach and watched the Hula Festival segment of the Pan Pacific celebrations. The stage performance depicted the history of Hawaii through Hula dances by both adult and child performers. That evening, we found a restaurant at the Holiday Inn (Jimmy Swaggert) and savored a fresh fish dish.
