The Ford Puma, hailed as “fun and attractive,” has been named the best-selling car in the UK for the second consecutive year.
In the past year, the major manufacturer has sold over 38,000 units of this popular model, outpacing strong competitors like Kia and Nissan.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the Ford Puma is the top-selling car in 2024, with sales reaching an impressive 38,944 units, outpacing the second-place Kia Sportage by over 1,300 units.
Continuing its success from 2023, the Puma consistently sold well throughout the year due to its affordability and enjoyable driving experience.
This compact crossover has received accolades for its versatility, making it an excellent choice for families as well as a stylish option for leisure drives.
Remarkably, it has even outsold the iconic Ford Transit and Transit Custom vans this year, according to Autocar.
Since its launch in 2019, the Ford Puma has remained a beloved choice among British drivers and across Europe.
The popular 6-speed manual model is equipped with a 125-horsepower mild hybrid engine, contributing to its appeal.
Drivers favor the Puma for its ease of use, stylish design, and overall enjoyment.
The Kia Sportage follows in second place, with 37,582 units sold, while the Nissan Qashqai ranks third.
The Nissan Qashqai had previously held the top position in 2022, but has seen a decline, moving down one place each year since.
Significantly, the Nissan Juke has made major progress this year, now in fourth place with 28,727 units sold, up from eighth place in 2023.
Completing the top ten are the Volkswagen Golf, Hyundai Tucson, Audi A3, Volkswagen Polo, Tesla Model Y, and MG HS, all of which sold between 23,000 and 27,500 units in 2024.
Despite ranking ninth among the UK’s most popular cars, the Tesla Model Y was the global favorite last year, with a staggering 1.22 million units sold worldwide, prompting billionaire business mogul Elon Musk to focus on further enhancements.
The first significant update for the Model Y since its 2019 launch was announced in August, featuring a new full-width light bar with the Tesla name adorning the sleek black rear.
