IHS London: The Strength of Collaboration

UK: The Independent Hotel Show (IHS), in collaboration with James Hallam, will take place at Olympia London on October 15-16. This event is designed to bring together independent hoteliers, interior designers, and hospitality professionals.

This year, the show will include over 30 sessions spanning the two days. The Hotel Business Stage, in association with eviivo and creatively designed by Spacebrand, will delve into the key trends and issues affecting the daily operations of independent hotels.

On this stage, BHN editor Eloise Hanson will be joined by Chris Bancroft, hotel operations manager at The Newt; Kalindi Juneja, CEO of Pride of Britain; and Veryan Palmer, executive director of Headland Hotel Cornwall, to discuss the successes and challenges that come with hotel partnerships.

Hanson stated: “Major hotel chains are actively working to expand their lifestyle portfolios by acquiring brands that built their success on maintaining independent identities. While consolidation raises concerns about the future of independent hotels, it could also inspire innovative new concepts, services, and amenities that depend on robust partnerships.

“Standalone independent hotels may find success by collaborating with representation and affiliation companies, enhancing their visibility on an international scale to stay competitive. Others might seek to strengthen ties with relevant PR firms or technology providers to effectively communicate their marketing messages to the right audiences. Local engagement is also crucial, as strong partnerships can enhance reputation by fostering direct connections with both businesses and guests.

“The flexibility in their offerings enables independent hoteliers to experiment with decision-making and remain agile when necessary. The challenge lies in balancing collaboration with self-reliance—a theme we’ll explore at IHS London,” she added.

Juneja commented: “Partnerships—in technology, marketing, or guest services—can significantly bolster a hotel’s strategic goals. Such collaborations can enhance reach, improve operational efficiency, and increase brand recognition. They open doors to new markets, advanced technologies, and shared resources that might otherwise be out of reach.”

Additionally, the Innovation Stage, partnered with Guestline and Mews and designed by Design Command, will address the themes, initiatives, technologies, and innovators that will shape the future of the independent hotel sector.

Furthermore, the Social Business Space, in collaboration with HotelPartner Revenue Management, will host numerous networking events and workshops, allowing hoteliers to connect with industry peers and collaboratively tackle shared challenges.
