1. Girl and the Goat

Dish from Girl and the Goat in the Arts District, Los Angeles

Address: 555-3 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet, Paid Garage, or Street Parking

I had not heard of Stephanie Izard until my friends praised her work, but I quickly fell for Girl and the Goat. The venue is inviting, filled with natural light and greenery, creating a warm atmosphere that’s perfect for impressing visitors. I used to be a brunch regular here—so much so that the staff would often treat us! Unfortunately, they have since scaled back their brunch offerings, which are no longer what they once were. However, the dinner menu remains exceptional with unique and flavorful dishes. The cocktails are creatively crafted, and it’s a favorite among diners. While not in the Arts District, Izard also runs a fantastic Peruvian restaurant called Cabra in DTLA, which I highly recommend!

2. Camellia

A beautifully plated dish from Camellia, a Japanese-French fusion restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 1850 Industrial St, Los Angeles, CA 90021
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

Camellia provided one of the best dining experiences I’ve had this year (it rivals Kinjiro in Little Tokyo). This exquisite Japanese-French fusion restaurant, located in the former Church + State space, exceeded all my expectations. Each dish marries French culinary techniques with Japanese precision, and I honestly can’t pick a favorite. Make sure you don’t miss the desserts; they are absolutely unforgettable! Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for something extraordinary, Camellia is a must-visit.

3. Factory Kitchen

Handmade pasta being prepared in the open kitchen at Factory Kitchen, an Italian restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 1300 Factory Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet, Paid Self-Parking, or Street Parking

If you’re craving Italian cuisine, Factory Kitchen is a great choice. It’s a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, and while some claim it competes with Bestia (I’m not fully convinced), it’s definitely in the same league. The atmosphere isn’t as visually striking as some others, but the food more than compensates for it. You can observe chefs crafting fresh pasta in the open kitchen, adding to the experience. The menu features classic Italian dishes done exceptionally well, perfect for a meal with friends or family when you want reliable quality.

4. Bavel

Elegant Mediterranean dishes at Bavel, a bustling restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 500 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

Created by the same team behind Bestia, Bavel elevates Mediterranean cuisine to new heights. Be warned—it’s always bustling, so be sure to make reservations well in advance. If possible, try to secure an indoor table as the outdoor seating can be noisy, making conversation a challenge. The dishes here are on the pricier side, but the quality justifies the cost. Each dish is like embarking on a new culinary adventure, and it’s a place you’ll want to return to time and again.

5. Manuela

Cozy greenhouse-style dining at Manuela, a popular brunch and dinner spot in Los Angeles.

Address: 907 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

Manuela is a versatile spot ideal for brunch or dinner. I adore the greenhouse ambiance, whether you choose to sit inside or outside. The portions are generally smaller, but the quality of each dish is outstanding. With a focus on seasonal ingredients, everything is prepared with care. It’s a wonderful place to relax with friends over brunch or enjoy a cozy dinner, making it a perfect go-to for any meal time.

Exploring the Arts District restaurant scene is always an exciting experience. Whether it’s your first time visiting LA or you’re a local seeking new favorites, these five restaurants deserve a spot at the top of your list. Be sure to book your tables ahead of time, and come hungry!
