Create Your Own Italian Seasoning Mix

Date:

Creating homemade spice blends is one of the simplest and quickest culinary tasks you can undertake. It’s always beneficial to know how to combine different spices from your pantry to whip up new and flavorful blends whenever necessary. Italian seasoning is a popular ingredient in many recipes, and making your own blend is incredibly easy!

Homemade Italian Seasoning – 5 Spices to Include

I’ve recently revamped my Italian seasoning recipe. Previously, I used both powdered and chopped versions of some spices, which often resulted in a blend that didn’t mix well. However, I’ve changed my approach. Now I exclusively use dried “leafier” versions of the spices, and as a result, my homemade Italian blend has improved significantly. The five spices I use are Oregano, Basil, Marjoram, Thyme, and Rosemary.

Additionally, I’ve streamlined the process. My new recipe yields a larger quantity and allows for the use of just one measuring tool, which is one of my favorite shortcuts. I simply use a teaspoon to measure all five spices, making it quick and easy. I dip the teaspoon into each spice jar as needed, and in no time, I’m finished! 🙂

This DIY Italian seasoning recipe yields approximately 14 teaspoons, perfect for fitting into a recycled spice container.

If you’d like to make a larger batch, you can easily adjust the measurements. Just use a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon to create a triple-sized batch, which can be stored in a larger recycled spice bottle.
