Controversial Nollywood actor and Labour Party leader, Kenneth Okonkwo, has criticized the party’s leadership under National Chairman Julius Abure.
The veteran actor warned that if Abure continues to head the party, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) might end up deciding the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
According to INFORMATION NIGERIA, Okonkwo expressed these views in an interview on Arise TV on Thursday.

He stated, “In a country like Nigeria, where the ruling party is finding ways to undermine the opposition, we cannot afford to waste time.”
“I can confidently say that the Labour Party, as it currently stands, has become a subordinate to the APC. The APC will determine who the Labour Party’s 2027 presidential candidate will be.”
“We are aware of their strategies. They are currently collaborating with individuals who assist in winning court cases.”

“Recall that when Abure went to Nnewi for what I consider an unlawful election (since the Supreme Court has not yet ruled), he claimed the ticket was reserved for Peter Obi.”
“I previously stated during this program that this indicates bribery; he intends to use this to persuade Peter Obi to overlook their illegal actions.”
“When their terms ended, it was not even Peter Obi who announced the conclusion of their terms; it was INEC, and they were removed from office in disgrace.”
“Now, when Peter Obi went to Umuahia to do the right thing, what did Abure say? He claimed the ticket was no longer reserved.”
“What does this imply? These are transactional politicians without policies or principles; their actions are driven by self-interest.”
“As the saying goes, ‘The witch cried at night, and the baby died in the day.’ What do you think is going on? It’s not just an accusation; he has stated it openly, and I can see the connection.”
“Every ticket in the Labour Party is essentially reserved for APC members, and I have explained this connection before. It’s not a coincidence.”
