BC Flood and Fire Relief

All of Canada is closely observing the plight of British Columbia like never before. The devastating forest fires and flooding have become widely recognized across the nation. According to “Google’s Year in Search,” B.C.’s wildfires ranked 7th in online searches, with the Lytton fire coming in at 9th, overshadowed only by Covid-19 at the number one spot. Billions in Damages

The wildfires that devastated Lytton, B.C., are projected to incur costs of $78 million. Additionally, significant damage occurred in Monty Lake, Paxton Valley, and Okanagan Lake, among others. Following this, widespread flooding hit southern British Columbia in November 2021, leading to an estimated $450 million in insured damages, making it the costliest extreme weather event in the province’s history. Canadians are closely watching as British Columbians bravely recover from these disasters. This event aims to raise as much funding as possible to support those affected, and the designated Rotary Clubs will manage the allocation of these funds.
