The blue waters of the Ligurian Sea were irresistible. Here, the beaches showcase golden sands caressed by gentle waves. We strolled along the Empress’s Walk, a promenade offering stunning sea views, adorned with palm trees and vibrant blooms. Later, we explored the flower museum in the lush park of Villa Ormond.
Alassio: The Pearl of Riviera Ponente
A short drive west from Sanremo brings us to Alassio, renowned for its sun-drenched beaches and pristine waters, attracting sun-seekers for generations.

Once a humble fishing village, Portofino is now a luxurious resort famous for its upscale boutiques and elegant waterfront, with frequent celebrity sightings adding to its allure.
While the town itself exudes luxury, its beaches blend exclusivity with natural beauty. Relax on the pebbly shores while admiring the yachts in the harbor, and enjoy swimming or snorkeling in the inviting waters, a refreshing getaway from the Mediterranean sun.
Our day in Portofino was made even more fun as we rented Vespas. Alternatively, you can take a ferry from Santa Margherita, but we liked the idea of riding down the coast.
As we entered Portofino, we were immediately enchanted. The beaches nestled beneath lush hills, adorned with pastel-colored buildings, radiated sophistication. The crystalline waters of the Ligurian Sea gently kissed the shore while yachts swayed in the harbor, creating a stunning symbiosis between luxury and nature.
After ascending the hill past the restaurants and shops, we took a refreshing dip in the sea, followed by a delightful lunch overlooking the marina.
