The Trevi Fountain is one of Rome’s most popular attractions, and the surrounding area is heavily frequented by tourists.
Due to the large crowds, it can be challenging to find a good meal in this neighborhood. However, it is entirely possible to enjoy a delightful dining experience close to Rome’s most famous fountain!
As a local from Rome, I often find this area too congested for enjoyable dining experiences, with a high risk of stumbling upon mediocre restaurants. Nevertheless, I’ve discovered a handful of wonderful places that consistently offer delicious food, excellent service, and reasonable prices despite the influx of visitors.

Piccolo Arancio
Il Piccolo Arancio is a hidden gem and one of my go-to restaurants near the Trevi Fountain, renowned for its quality and value.
I stumbled upon it while searching for a casual dining spot with my children during one of our “tourist days” at home, and I have consistently found their food to be excellent ever since.
The menu features traditional Roman dishes such as carbonara, gricia, amatriciana, and cacio e pepe, as well as classic options like ravioli, gnocchi, and lasagna, in addition to seafood dishes, meats, and tempting desserts.
The restaurant is cozy with both indoor and outdoor seating, and it has good air conditioning for the summer months. Reservations are recommended and can be made online.

Colline Emiliane
Colline Emiliane is a well-established restaurant in Rome, known for its commitment to quality, which has remained high over the decades.
True to its name, it specializes in cuisine from the Emilia-Romagna region—the food capital of Italy! Here, you’ll find delectable tortellini, lasagna, tortelloni, gnocchi, and exquisite meats, alongside delightful desserts. The ambiance is traditional and understated.
All pasta is freshly made on-site.

Piccolo Buco (Pizza)
Piccolo Buco, meaning ‘Little Hole,’ certainly lives up to its name as it is quite small!
However, it delivers outstanding pizza, often hailed as the best in Rome!
The pizza features a airy crust and generous edge, crafted with top-quality ingredients that make it both light and satisfying. Though I typically prefer thin crust, this pizza is so fantastic that it deserves its accolades.
Expect to wait in line, as Piccolo Buco is extremely popular. But trust me, a delicious pizza awaits you at the end of the wait.
In addition to pizza, they offer caprese salad and shareable platters (check under ‘antipasti’ for starters).

Ristorante Abruzzi
Ristorante Abruzzi is reminiscent of the traditional restaurants from my childhood, featuring an informal atmosphere, authentic Roman cuisine, and excellent value for money.
The menu highlights traditional Roman and seasonal dishes: you’ll find beloved staples such as carciofi alla romana (Roman-style artichokes) and carbonara, as well as savoury meat dishes like their steak with peppercorn sauce.

Sora Lucia
Sora Lucia is a restaurant boasting traditional decor and a classic menu, making it a delightful find in the touristy Trevi Fountain district.
Located just a five-minute walk from the fountain, it manages to retain a local, authentic vibe, offering reasonable prices and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
The standout dishes here include traditional delights such as carciofi alla giudia (deep-fried artichokes), carbonara, cacio e pepe, and tiramisu.
