If you’re seeking an exciting night out in June, look no further than the annual White Night celebration in Tel Aviv.
The entire city comes alive with various concerts, performances, and events that continue into the early hours. The focus of this long night is on the city’s stunning architecture and vibrant nightlife.
What is White Night?
Launched in 2005 to honor the designation of Tel Aviv’s White City—famed for its impressive collection of Bauhaus buildings—as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, White Night has since evolved into an annual celebration, typically held on the last Thursday in June (so save the date!). This year (2023), it is scheduled for Thursday, June 29.
What to Experience on White Night
Throughout the city, various events are organized simultaneously at cultural centers, commercial venues, and clubs, many of which stay open late into the night. There are also outdoor performances that run until the dawn. These events are largely free or charge a small fee, allowing tourists and locals alike to enjoy a diverse assortment of activities.
Here are some of the highlights you can expect at Tel Aviv’s White Night (most of which are free to attend):
- Many Bauhaus buildings along Rothschild and Bialik Streets will be illuminated with spotlights, showcasing unique architectural features throughout the night.
- Rothschild Street will buzz with energy, featuring circus performers, street musicians, and dancers clad in white, weaving through the crowds.
- Kikar Rabin will host its popular headphone party, where music and dancing via headphones will commence at 8 PM and last well into the night.
- The Jaffa Flea Market is typically open all night, offering a lively atmosphere.
- Join famous Israeli artists at Tzuk Beach at dawn (usually starting around 1 AM) for a memorable musical experience.
- Take part in special tours organized by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Tourism Association.
- Many top restaurants and bars will offer unique deals for White Night.
