Exploring the Paranormal with the S.N.I.P.E Team

Date:

Do you believe in ghosts? We started as skeptics, but after our first ghost-hunting tour, Whisper to The Moon, our perspective has changed dramatically. This tour, led by an authentic ghost-hunting team known as S.N.I.P.E., included a nighttime paddle with captivating ghost stories, followed by a demonstration showcasing evidence gathered over the years to substantiate the existence of ghosts.

Naturally, we had to film this experience for our YouTube Channel.

We hope you enjoy the video! Make sure to SUBSCRIBE so you can stay updated on our future uploads.

The Tour

Our journey began at the Chiefswood National Historic Site, which is also the birthplace of acclaimed Canadian poet Pauline Johnson. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Todd Thomas, a co-founder of S.N.I.P.E. He provided a brief overview of what we could expect during the Whisper to The Moon paranormal paddle, before we made our way to our launch site on the Grand River with our raft and paddles. Another investigator, Artie Martin, joined us along with two other guests.

Once we were settled in the raft and paddling, Artie introduced himself and shared his beliefs about life, death, and the afterlife—lessons he was taught as a child. He encouraged each of us to introduce ourselves, mention where we were from, and share our beliefs or experiences related to the paranormal. He also explained the significance of the Grand River and the moon, which illuminated our journey, to the people of Six Nations.

Artie told us thrilling stories about ghost sightings in the area, including some believed to occur in that stretch of the Grand River. One particular sighting happens frequently, causing observers to exit their vehicles to investigate, only to discover it was a mere fleeting glimpse.

Did you catch the expression on Tony’s face? He was particularly spooked by one of the ghost tales we heard that night. If you want to find out which story left him feeling uneasy, watch the video.

The paddling portion of the paranormal tour concluded on the riverbank at Chiefswood NHS. After we pulled ashore, we returned to the house for the evidence review segment of the evening. In a lantern-lit room, we examined the paranormal evidence collected by the S.N.I.P.E. team over the years. One video clip showcased footage captured at a former residential school, and right as the video paused, Tony noticed a faint outline of a face—something that had eluded Todd and Artie until that moment. We enhanced the image in our video, so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think. Can you spot the ghost in the pictures and videos documented by S.N.I.P.E.?

Our adventure concluded with a walking tour of the house, where Todd shared incidents and encounters that visitors had experienced there. Given that the home is over a century old, the creaking floorboards and stairs undoubtedly heightened the eerie atmosphere. And that doll you see in the picture below… isn’t it one of the creepiest dolls you’ve ever seen?

We were supposed to conclude the experience with a séance to attempt to contact any spirits lingering in the house, but we had to skip that due to time constraints. Although we didn’t experience any ghostly encounters ourselves, if you participate in a Whisper to The Moon tour and witness any paranormal activity, please share your stories with us in the comments section below.

Location

Chiefswood National Historic Site is situated in Oshweken on the Six Nations of the Grand River.

Essential Information

  • Initially, we thought we would navigate in complete darkness. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how moonlight illuminated our path. Trust us, your eyesight will adjust accordingly.
  • The dusk and sunset hours are peak times for mosquitoes, so make sure to apply plenty of bug spray before heading out on the water. We also strongly recommend wearing long sleeves and pants to avoid bites.
  • The guides are eager to hear about your family’s traditions, beliefs, and backgrounds, so come prepared to share a story or two.

Whisper to The Moon offers a unique experience because it takes place on the Six Nations of the Grand River reservation. It’s both entertaining and educational. If you’re seeking an unusual experience that challenges you and pushes you outside your comfort zone, this tour is precisely what you need.

If paranormal activities don’t interest you, there are various traditional paddling experiences available. Earlier in the day, we tried turbo tubing, and the outfitter, Grand River Rafting, also offers kayaking, canoeing, and rafting tours during daylight hours.

Our Whisper to The Moon night paddle and paranormal adventure was generously sponsored by SNIPE and The Heart of Ontario; however, all opinions, recommendations, and reviews are entirely our own.
