Korean Air Review: A Comprehensive Look

Date:

During our trip to Asia, Pete and I took Korean Airlines from Bangkok to Seoul, and then from Seoul back to the United States. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the luxurious touches available even in coach class. One highlight? They offered a skincare shop right on the flight! Below, I’ve included photos from both flights that showcase the amenities, entertainment options, meals, and special features you can expect when flying with Korean Air.

Another aspect I truly appreciated about Korean Air is their direct flights from Atlanta to Seoul. Typically, traveling from the East Coast of the United States to Asia involves multiple layovers, often resulting in a grueling 24-hour travel day. Thanks to this direct connection, we halved our travel time. It felt fantastic knowing that we only had to make one connection instead of two or three before making it home to Florida.

If you’re a fan of Delta, you’ll be pleased to know that Korean Air is a member of the SkyTeam alliance, allowing you to earn SkyMiles with them as well. Plus, flying with the official airline creates a nice ambiance that gets you excited for your destination right from takeoff.

Now, without further ado, let’s dive into our review of Korean Airlines along with our flight photos!

There was plenty of legroom. I’m about 5’3″, and the space between my knees and the seat in front of me was more than adequate.

They offered a solid selection of entertainment, and there was a USB outlet available to charge your phone.

The in-flight meal from Bangkok to Seoul featured a salmon salad, beef with vegetables, and melon and dragon fruit for dessert. I particularly appreciate flights that offer a light dessert option.

The bathrooms in coach were the cleanest I’ve encountered on any airline, featuring Jurlique products for refreshing. The flight attendants kept a close eye on the bathroom, ensuring it was spotless with fresh dental kits always available.

We arrived in Seoul at sunset. Isn’t the view incredible? If you’re flying this route, make sure to request seats on the left side of the plane to enjoy this picturesque landing.

On our flight from Seoul to Atlanta, we again enjoyed ample legroom. Although this plane seemed a bit older than the previous one, it was still clean. Since it was a longer flight, we found bottles of water waiting at our seats upon boarding. Additionally, the crew made sure to keep everyone hydrated by offering bottled water throughout the flight. This thoughtful touch is not something you find on every international flight.

Here’s the amenity kit we received for the flight from Seoul to Atlanta. It included slippers and a dental kit. While functional, the bag itself felt a bit flimsy and cheap. I wish it had a more durable design because I often repurpose these bags for storing my electronics. Unfortunately, this one fell apart and wasn’t worth keeping.

The in-flight menu on our flight from Seoul to Atlanta impressed me! After spending a week diving into Korean cuisine, I was excited to see bibimbap featured. The meal included seaweed rice, kimchi, soup, a bean paste, and sauce, with pineapple for dessert (once again, I appreciated the healthy fruit choice!). However, my only critique is that the ingredient list did not include allergy information in English. Since Pete is allergic to shellfish, he opted for a different dish to avoid any risk of an allergic reaction. Despite his love for bibimbap, he played it safe.

Additionally, although he ordered a beef dish, his salad unexpectedly contained shrimp. It would be beneficial for them to consider food allergies more carefully.

One delightful surprise on our Korean Air flight was the duty-free store. Have you ever seen an actual store set up on a plane? Typically, it’s just a duty-free magazine and a cart, but this was a whole new level of shopping. I loved being able to try out some skincare products and ended up purchasing some SK-II items at a better price than in the U.S. What a win!

This was our second meal during the long flight from Seoul to Atlanta. It consisted of chicken and rice, Caesar salad, and lychee for dessert. I have a fondness for lychee; however, I can imagine that most Americans might be hesitant about this fruit unless they’ve tried it before. It’s sweet and delicious, albeit a bit unusual in appearance when pre-peeled and served.

That’s a wrap! We enjoyed meals, watched movies, and caught up on sleep. When we finally woke up, we found ourselves in Atlanta, with only one additional short flight to reach home in Orlando.
