Start with Dinner at the Table Rock House Restaurant
Even though I mentioned that dinner and a movie can be a bit cliché, as a foodie, I still love a great meal on date night. Dining at the Table Rock House Restaurant, which offers exquisite dishes and one of the best views of the Horseshoe Falls, is a fantastic way to kick off your evening.
Located in the Table Rock Centre, this acclaimed restaurant in Niagara Falls features a menu filled with flavors sourced primarily from the region. As a FeastON certified establishment, at least 25% of their ingredients are sourced from local Ontario producers. This is sure to impress your date with a variety of dishes brimming with flavor!
INSIDER TIP: Given its popularity, I strongly recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to wow your date. Planning ahead increases your chances of securing a window-side table with a view of the falls.
Enjoy French-inspired cuisine with an international twist. Their seasonal menu highlights the incredible talents of local farmers, producers, brewers, and distillers. No matter when you visit, make sure to try their Ontario Burrata. The latest version features a delightful mix of sweet and savory elements, including pistachio butter atop Pingue mortadella, sprinkled with cherries and toasted pistachios, drizzled with cherry vinaigrette and wildflower honey.
As for the rest of the menu, you can’t go wrong with any of the options! I’ve savored everything from pasta to salmon to duck, and each dish has been fantastic. If you’re open to it, I recommend trying the prix fixe menu for $70, which saves a bit and includes dessert, always a bonus!
Grab a Drink at the Closest Rooftop Patio to the Falls
To elevate your date experience, take them to the chic new rooftop patio at Niagara Falls that remains a hidden gem—at least for now!
Since its opening in June, the Table Rock Bistro + Wine Bar claims the title of the closest open-air rooftop patio to the Horseshoe Falls. What better way to enjoy the golden hour than with stunning views of the falls?
The Table Rock Bistro + Wine Bar boasts an extensive wine and beer selection sourced from the Niagara region. Beers are quite reasonably priced at $10 per pint, while wines may be a bit pricier. One of my favorite features is their wine tasting flights, which are comparable in price to many local wineries, allowing you to sample wines from four different places! You can also customize your beer flight.
If cocktails are more your style, there’s a diverse selection including martinis and frozen drinks. While some liquors may not be locally sourced, many ingredients are, bringing a fresh twist to familiar flavors. There’s a drink for everyone—from sweet cocktails to some hearty options—along with great non-alcoholic choices!
Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you’re aiming for a table right by the edge for the best atmosphere, a little patience might be needed. However, midweek visits tend to be quieter, especially after the busy summer season!
Explore the Niagara Parks Power Station
This may not be the typical date night activity for Niagara Falls, but hear me out. Since the Power Station opened, I’ve been raving about it, and it may just be my favorite Niagara Falls attraction for several reasons.
The Power Station is intriguing during the day, allowing you to “follow the flow” and learn about the Niagara River, the history of the hydroelectric station, and the technological advancements that brought our understanding of electricity to this point. But at night, the museum transforms with Currents, a mesmerizing light show that is sure to captivate.
Projected from upper floors, this stunning display illustrates the journey of water and its enchanting properties. What differentiates Currents isn’t just the remarkable visuals, but how many elements engage with the viewer as you stroll through the main floor.
The Power Station’s evening programming begins around 7:00 PM (exact times can vary by season), with Currents running on a loop every 30 minutes. If you arrive midway, don’t worry—it will restart soon so you can enjoy the entire magical experience.
But that’s not all that the Niagara Parks Power Station has to offer after dark…
Enjoy the New Night Access to The Tunnel
Before the summer of 2024, The Tunnel was only open during daylight hours. Now, you can meander along this unique pathway and experience the falls at night!
Descend roughly 55 metres (180 feet) to the site where the water once flowed to power the generators you just viewed illuminated above. Follow the charming red brick path while admiring the enchanting light displays that enhance the ambiance and guide you down from the elevators. Feel free to pause at the interpretive signs that reveal the history of the power station, or simply focus on enjoying the moment with your date as you stroll down the 670 metres (2200 feet) to the end. There, the path leads to a viewing platform offering breathtaking views of the Horseshoe Falls, lit up in a dazzling array of colors!
INSIDER TIP: If you buy your Power Station night pass in advance online, opt for the $10 nighttime parking option to save $25 on the daily parking fee at the Table Rock lot! If you’ve already paid at the lot, visit the ticket counter for a voucher to scan when leaving, also saving you that $25.
Keep in mind that the temperature in The Tunnel is cooler, so I suggest bringing a jacket. Or here’s an opportunity for you to be chivalrous by offering your jacket to keep your partner warm!
Catch the Fireworks Over the Falls
As if the Power Station couldn’t get any more spectacular at night, there’s yet another reason to include this in your Niagara Falls date night this summer—fireworks!
While most people enjoy this dazzling display from the Niagara Parkway in front of the Table Rock Centre, many don’t know they can also catch the fireworks from The Tunnel’s lookout platform! Witness the American Falls illuminate like a vibrant tapestry while the stunning fireworks burst overhead. Leaning in for a kiss as the sky lights up with color just might be one of the most romantic moments in Niagara Falls, wouldn’t you agree?
To secure a spot for the fireworks from the Tunnel, catch the elevator around 9:15 PM to allow ample time to reach the lookout platform and find a great vantage point by the safety rails for an unobstructed view.
More Things to Do For Your Niagara Falls Date Night
And there you have it—a perfect blueprint for a date night in Niagara Falls that is sure to impress your significant other or someone special! But if you’re enjoying yourselves and want to keep the fun going a bit longer, here are some more activities to consider, especially since Niagara Parks closes at 10:00 PM.
Take a Stroll Along the Niagara Parkway – If the conversation is flowing and you want it to continue, head back up the elevators and take a leisurely walk along the Parkway. The illuminated falls provide a beautiful backdrop, and there’s plenty of walking space. Be sure to pass by Queen Victoria Park to see the trees aglow with lights and get a closer view of the American Falls.
Be a Tourist on Clifton Hill – Known as Canada’s Las Vegas, the sights and sounds of Clifton Hill are quite a spectacle. Explore this iconic street and see which attractions catch your interest. Perhaps a ride on the Skywheel for extra romance? Or maybe some fun at a glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course? Just wandering the strip is entertaining with all the people-watching opportunities!
Unleash Your Inner Child at the Great Canadian Midway – It’s essential to not only find someone to grow old with but also someone to keep your youthful spirit alive! Play some arcade games, whether it’s air hockey or skee-ball, as there’s plenty to enjoy for hours.
Check Out the Fallsview Casino Complex – Feeling lucky? Why not pop into the Fallsview Casino and see what fortunes await? Gamble responsibly, or simply stroll around the beautiful venue which features numerous bars, restaurants, and the iconic fountain as its centerpiece!
Transport Yourself to Cuba at Havana – To wrap it up, this is my favorite spot for nightlife in Niagara Falls. Located in downtown Niagara Falls, Havana brings you fantastic Cuban music every Friday and Saturday night! Sip on a Cuba Libre or a spicy mango margarita and show off your dance moves surrounded by vibrant tropical energy!
