Race Day in the Nicola Valley
EXPERIENCE THE MERRITT SPEEDWAY
Racing in Merritt BC – I’m thrilled to share my first experience at the Merritt Speedway! As someone who is relatively new to the area, I was captivated right from the moment the engines started roaring. To get there, simply take No. 8 road through the stunning Nicola Valley to Marmot Rd, which is just five minutes outside the city.
Fun for Everyone Racing in Merritt BC
“They run stock cars with rebuilt engines,” my dad mentions as we leave the driveway. I’m filled with excitement because Race Day at Merritt Speedway has finally arrived! I’ve managed to convince him and my uncle to join me, and it’s all of our first time at the track. Cheers to boosting tourism in
Merritt BC!
Race Day in the Nicola Valley
I enjoyed every aspect of this day, from the enticing aroma of the food stands to the excited children jumping up and down as the races began. I watched as lucky fans found seats in the top row, cheering loudly as their favorite cars raced across the finish line.
Attractions in Merritt
Having moved here a year ago, I still haven’t explored the must-visit attractions in my new community. There’s so much to do, including racing, fishing, camping, hiking, sledding, and discovering the numerous lakes and hills that surround us. It’s truly a beautiful community, and I’m eager to explore it all!
Nostalgia at First Glance
As we arrive, we head towards a small white building that conveniently says “Ticket Booth.” It’s located next to a long row of classic wooden blue bleachers. The fresh outdoor air and scenic views evoke memories of country fairs and rodeos from my childhood. It’s a wonderful way to spend the day!
Cash-Friendly Car Racing in Merritt BC
As we approach the ticket counter, the announcer’s lively voice fills the air, sharing commentary about the racers: “Fire up your engines, we’re all set for some racing in Merritt BC!” The cashier greets us, saying, “We only accept cash.” I make a mental note of this as I don’t want to miss out on tickets, memorabilia, or concession treats. Make sure to add Nicola Valley racing to your list of activities!
A Seniors Discount
“Are you a senior?” she asks my uncle. He grins and replies, “It depends.” She chuckles, “Are you over 55?” Dad laughs, teasing his younger brother, “Guess who’s a senior now!” It’s always a fun time with these two—never a dull moment!
Kid-Friendly Fun
The cashier takes our money and says, “That’ll be $10 each for seniors and $15 for one adult.” Kids aged ten and under can enter for free, so I’m definitely going to be the “cool aunt” next time my little ones are in town! If you’re looking for fun activities in the city, this is an affordable and enjoyable way to spend your afternoon.
Retro Water Tanker at the Races in Merritt BC
With tickets in hand, I move closer to inspect the large white tanker truck with an open engine that rolls around the track. Firstly, the size of the tires is impressive. Secondly, it speeds around quickly. The track is thoroughly sprayed with water before the announcer calls the cars to the track to prepare for racing at Merritt Speedway.
Hear the Car Engines Roar
The roar of the engines fills the air, making it feel like we’re at a Ferrari convention. It’s a thrilling sound that resonates in your chest, making you envision strapping into a car and gearing up for your first race!
A Birdseye View
I settle onto the far bleachers, getting a side view of the racers coming out of the pit and tackling their first corner. I can see smoke billowing from cars that are still being prepped. Although we have 15 minutes until the first race, it’s clear the drivers are ensuring their race cars are ready for an exciting day.
Announcing the Starting Line
The announcer’s voice carries across the field, introducing the starting lineup and welcoming the fans. As I look around, I can see those who arrived early, soaking in the atmosphere at BC’s Fastest Dirt Track, the Merritt Speedway—an experience not to be missed!
The Final Lap of Racing in Merritt BC
As dusk settles, the dust calms after the final race. We salute the fans, sponsors, and drivers as trophies are awarded, and the victorious cars take their victory laps. It’s been a successful season, leaving happy fans looking forward to next year.
Racing into Fall
With the racing season coming to a close, it’s time to gear up for fall activities. We have pumpkin carving, apple bobbing, costume hunting, cider sipping, and eggnog delights to look forward to. You might just find yourself falling more in love with Merritt!
