Planning to fly in or out of Stansted this weekend? Be cautious. The Stansted Express, which provides a direct rail connection to London, will experience significant disruptions.
On Sunday, October 20, there will be no direct trains operating between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport. Passengers are encouraged to consider alternative travel options.
If you’re determined to use the train to or from Stansted this weekend, or if you have already purchased tickets for the Stansted Express, there are alternatives available. Your Stansted Express tickets will be valid on the route from London King’s Cross to Cambridge, and then from Cambridge to the airport.
Another option includes two trains running every hour from Liverpool Street to Waltham Cross stations. Following this, a ‘very limited’ bus replacement service will operate between Waltham Cross and Stansted Airport. The estimated total journey time for this option will be around two hours and 40 minutes.
This disruption is due to improvement work aimed at enhancing the concrete sleepers at Cheshunt Junction and replacing a segment of the railway near Stansted Mountfitchet. Travellers were initially notified about the closure at the end of September.
