Al-Bassam Roastery

Al-Bassam Roastery specializes in premium nuts, chocolates, sweets, coffee, and Turkish delight. Known for its roasting, don’t miss out on their freshly roasted nuts and coffee beans!

I highly recommend the Arabic coffee prepared in hot sand, which is made from a blend of Yemeni, Syrian, and Brazilian beans. Sand coffee isn’t commonly found in Ontario (my first experience was in Izmir, Turkey), so keep your camera ready if you see it for the first time!

BADAMI Sweets + Cuisine

Savor the authentic flavors of Pakistani and Indian sweets at BADAMI Sweets + Cuisine.

This establishment stands out with its live jalebi-making at the entrance, providing an engaging experience to assure you enjoy the freshest possible jalebi.

I was amazed to see them actively making this Indian street food at 12:30 AM, underlining their popularity even late into the night, which I also captured in the video.

Karachi Hot N Roll

Their freshly made sugarcane juice is a highlight, crafted from sugarcane sourced from Costa Rica.

Matari Coffee Co

For coffee lovers, Matari Coffee Co is the place to be in Ridgeway Plaza. This modern café specializes in Yemeni coffee and tea, alongside delightful pastries and desserts.

I particularly enjoyed their Yemeni Latte and even bought some Yemeni beans to take home. The Adeni Chai was a standout and pairs wonderfully with thamool, a savory Yemeni cookie.

Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai stands as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Mississauga. This small eatery, run by a husband-and-wife team from Acapulco, Mexico, is famous for its authentic Mexican dishes, including tacos, tortas, and enchiladas.

For a sampling of their best offerings, try the Meal 1 Premium, which includes tacos and quesadillas with your choice of filling, along with rice, beans with cheese, and two drinks.

A table of Mexican food at Mount Sinai in Ridgeway Plaza
1) Meal 1 Premium ($40) – 4 tacos, 2 quesadillas, rice & beans, 1 can of pop. Protein Options: Lamb Birria, Beef Birria, Beef Steak, Alambre.
2) Churros ($5/3 pieces)

They craft their own corn tortillas and homemade hot sauces at varying spice levels, which is a significant plus!

I particularly enjoyed the lamb birria, which was both tender and full of flavor. The consomme was addictively good!

If lamb isn’t your thing, their beef birria is a great alternative, but lamb birria is relatively rare, so it’s worth a try.

Travelling Foodie Tip: First-time customers receive complimentary churros! Make sure to try them.

Nablus Creamery

Nablus Creamery, run by a husband and wife from Palestine, is a beloved local dairy shop and creamery providing a variety of Mediterranean yogurt drinks, cheeses, and ice creams.

I visited to try their Arabic ice cream and was enchanted by their Arabic ice cream slice, which was even better! Perfect for sharing, this slice was creamy and had the chewy texture from mastic resin, reminiscent of Turkish dondurma I enjoyed in Kas, Turkey.

Nawab’s Legendary BBQ

As Ridgeway Plaza’s only 24-hour restaurant, Nawab’s Legendary BBQ specializes in Mughlai BBQ and comfort food with an Indian fusion twist. The chicken tikka pizza, topped with tender pieces of chargrilled chicken marinated in tikka masala, is a delightful choice.

Comfort Food and Drinks at Nawab's Legendary BBQ in Ridgeway Plaza
1) 12″ Chicken Tikka Pizza ($22.99)
2) 18-piece Chicken Wings ($34.99) – 3 Flavours
3) Fresh Lime Masala Soda ($5.99)
4) Pista Badam Kesar Milkshake ($6.99)

The chicken wings were crispy and flavorful, showcasing both traditional and Asian flavors, such as honey garlic and buffalo, along with Spicy Tandoori and Chilli Schezwan.

Even the drinks are intriguing, like the Pista Badam Kesar Milkshake, reminiscent of the Badam Milk I had during a street food tour in India, infused with Rasmalai flavors. For the adventurous, the Fresh Lime Masala Soda is a must-try.

Uniquely focused on comfort food, Potato Bar serves various potato dishes, including smoked potatoes, hand-cut fries, and tater tots, with an impressive selection of over 40 toppings!

Saraya Restaurant

As one of the finest Middle Eastern restaurants in Ridgeway Plaza, Saraya Restaurant is famous for its authentic flavors and family-style portions, offering dishes like mandi (a traditional Yemeni meat and rice dish), shish tawook, and mixed grill.

The shish tawook, lovingly grilled, is flavorful and surprisingly tender for chicken breasts. Saraya is particularly proficient with lamb; I recommend their lamb mandi and Ontario lamb chops.

The lamb shank on the mandi was incredibly tender and had a rich flavor, reminiscent of biryani. The Ontario lamb chops featured a lovely char with a sliver of fat that enhanced their juiciness and taste.

Travelling Foodie Tip: While tap water isn’t served here, take this opportunity to savor their delightful Mango Smoothie.

1) Shrimp Saraya ($18) – Stir-fried shrimp with garlic, cilantro, parsley, spicy sauce, and lemon.
2) Ontario Lamb Chops ($35) – Three lamb ribs served with salad and rice.

5) Mango Smoothie ($10)

Shawarma Avenue

Did I truly experience Ridgeway Plaza without trying shawarma? It’s one of the most common food options in Mississauga’s largest food plaza.

Shawarma Avenue stands out, known for their saj wraps and chicken on rice. Unlike many places that only offer beef, this casual eatery features a combo of lamb and beef.

I thoroughly enjoyed their Lamb + Beef Saj Wrap, but for a heartier meal, the Chicken on Rice is a perfect choice.

The saj wrap is a thin alternative to pita, letting the fillings shine through. The Lamb + Beef combination was incredibly tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Don’t forget to try the homemade hot sauce for an extra kick!

Sun Chinese Cuisine

If you’re in the mood for noodles or soup, don’t miss Sun Chinese Cuisine at Ridgeway Plaza.

This traditional Chinese restaurant specializes in hand-pulled noodles—offering dishes like Lanzhou beef noodles and braised beef noodles with customizable noodle sizes.

The noodle dishes I sampled hit the spot: Lanzhou beef noodles and braised beef noodles (both soups), and surprisingly, I also enjoyed the Lanzhou Niangpi despite typically not favoring cold noodle dishes.

1) Tea Egg ($1.99)
2) Lanzhou Niangpi ($6.99)
3) Traditional Lanzhou Beef Noodle ($14.99/Large)
4) Braised Beef Noodle ($16.99/Large)

A must-try non-noodle dish is the Lamb with Special Seasoning, which was delightfully tender and flavorful. It contains cumin, but you can adjust the spice level; the mild version is not spicy at all.

Travelling Foodie Tip: For an exciting view, sit at the tables by the kitchen window to watch the chefs make and hand-pull the noodles from scratch. It’s quite a spectacle!

The Dough Story

For an exquisite dessert experience, The Dough Story is a must-visit. Its atmosphere blends refined luxury with a quirky flair, making it arguably the most Instagrammable café in Ridgeway Plaza.

The beautifully decorated cakes and desserts are just as delightful as the ambiance.

Try the eggless mango cheesecake, which has a mousse-like consistency and boasts a strong cheesy flavor complemented by sweet mango puree. The pistachio tres leches is perfectly moist without being overly sweet, allowing the roasted pistachio flavor to shine.

How to Get to Ridgeway Plaza, Mississauga

Located at 4700 Ridgeway Dr., Ridgeway Plaza occupies the combined space of two adjacent centers: Erin Mills Centre and Platinum Centre.

You can visit Ridgeway Plaza any time of the year, making it an ideal destination for a food adventure:

Alternatively, you can take the GO Transit to Mississauga via train or bus, as multiple stops are conveniently available.

Ridgeway Plaza Mississauga Stores and Parking Lot

Ridgeway Plaza sees heavy foot traffic, so navigating the plaza can be a challenge. Drivers and pedestrians should exercise caution, particularly on weekends.

I was already blown away by the business on a Monday night (as depicted in the video) and can only imagine how crowded it can get on weekends or holidays.

Conveniently situated off Highway 401 and near the Streetsville neighborhood, this family-friendly four-star hotel features a fitness center, both indoor and outdoor pools, and the area’s longest indoor waterslides.

  • Multi-port desk with HDTV display and ergonomic chair
