This week, it was announced that the next Vestnorden Travel Trade Show will be held in Akureyri in the autumn of 2025.
Typically, the next venue is revealed during the closing dinner of the event, and this year’s Vestnorden took place in the Faroe Islands. The North Iceland Marketing Office was represented by Arnheiði Jóhannsdóttir and Halldór Óli Kjartansson, who highlighted the various attractions and offerings of North Iceland’s tourism sector.
Vestnorden serves as the primary business platform for tourism in the North Atlantic region. This trade show brings together tourism companies from Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland to showcase their products to international tourism operators. The event is a collaborative initiative among Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, organized under the auspices of NATA (North-Atlantic Tourism Association), with Visit Iceland as the organizing body when hosted in Iceland.
The last Vestnorden was held in Akureyri in 2018. The trade show occurs every other year in Iceland, with alternating years in the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Approximately 600 guests are anticipated, including tourism operators from the three countries and retailers from over 30 countries around the globe.
